Hello, I'm Dr. Melissa Turner
After working for 10 years in independent and retail pharmacies, I saw so many people struggle with taking medications. They struggled with medications that didn't help treat their condition or the medicine caused adverse effects.
I knew there had to be a better way.
That is why I founded Turnaround Wellness
I want you to be on the right medication and dose. I don't want you to try a medication and hope that it works or won't cause an adverse effect. By looking at your genetic information from a pharmacogenomic (PGx) test, we can cut down on the need for trial-and-error. We can learn so much about how you may or may not respond to medications based on your genetics.
Your genetics can also give us the information we need to know how you absorb, transport, and utilize micronutrients, such as, vitamins, choline, and zinc. Nutrigenomics (NGx) looks at changes in your DNA and how they affect your immune health, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal health and how your body breaks down glucose (sugar). Other areas that where NGx can help include detoxification, weight management, and cognitive health and memory. Your genetics can also influence your energy and fitness (exercise performance type, injury risk, and exercise response).
During my time as a retail pharmacist, I experienced two tragic losses in my family. The first was the murder of my sister by another family member. The second was losing my dad, almost 2 years to the day after losing my sister. After those events, I struggled for years with anxiety, anger, sadness, regret, and grief. I lost interest in many of the things I used to enjoy. I had strayed away from God but He never left me. Eventually, I found my way back to God and my faith has been restored.
I want to help others know that the tragic events that happen in our life are not caused by God. They are a result of the sin and brokenness in our world. I want to share with you what I have learned over the last few years.
In either a 3 or 6 month program, we will examine how your DNA impacts your medications, nutrition and wellness. Then, we will walk through God's word and read scripture verses and stories. We will look at how people in the Bible struggled with anxiety and depression. We will look at how God wants us to view our past, present, and future.
God wants us to take care of our whole body: the physical, mental, and spiritual. You can't look at just medications or just nutrition or just spiritual. Let's work together to understand how all those pieces work together and see how God made you unique.
Please note, that as a pharmacist, I cannot legally diagnose or prescribe medications based on a pharmacogenomics and/or nutrigenomics report. Any changes that need to be made to your medications and/or dosage must be done by your medical provider.
